A panorama of the Hinku Valley and our trek into Mera Peak.
We came in from the ridge on the horizon at the far right of this picture. The Chalem Kharka campsite was somewhere on the low ridge just in the background. Crossing a pass we reached the area of the Panch Pokhari lakes in the jagged mountain area flanked by clouds to the right of the panorama. After descending to the Chanbu Kharka campsite, we came over the ridge in the foreground to the right of the photo (on the far side of the valley), along a path high above the valley floor. We then descended into the Mojang Forest, which is the wooded valley straight in front in the middle of the picture. From there we descended to the Hinku Valley floor, well below the bottom of the shot, and travelled up to Tangnang, which is situated in the dip between Charpati (the white mountain on the far left) and Mera Peak (the obvious three-summited mountain to its right). Finally, we walked up the valley which forms the dip, towards Khare and ascended Mera from the far side. Phew!
