Firle Tower, the watchkeeper's house of Firle Place, seen from the climb up to the South Downs Way.
Firle Place was the residence of Sir John Gage, a contradictory figure who aided Henry VIII with the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th Century, despite being a catholic himself.
