Valle Hermoso: Beaver Watching, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Beavers were introduced to Tierra del Fuego from Canada in 1946 to help promote the fur industry. Unfortunately, while they are prey to bears and foxes in their native environment, they have no natural predators in Tierra del Fuego and are therefore something of a pest, destroying several thousand hectares of native forest to build dams.
