Google Groups - Now that Google's brilliant relevance ranking algorithm has been applied to the entire USENET archive, this is always my first stop for locating programming errors and obscure software bugs (essential for any Microsoft systems developer!).

HTML

HTML Reference - Sister site to the book "HTML: The Complete Reference," by Thomas A. Powell, this site contains a comprehensive resource of all HTML elements, special characters and a web-safe colour palette.

W3 Consortium - The World Wide Web Consortium is responsible for writing and updating the HTML standard. Here is the complete specification.

HTML Help - Site run by the Web Design Group. Another good HTML reference resource.

JavaScript

JavaScript Developer Central - JavaScript was originally developed by Netscape as a client-side scripting language for their browser, and they are still responsible for the development of much of the standard. This is their JavaScript development resource site.

Netscape JavaScript Reference - A quick link to the reference manual on the above web site. Scroll to the bottom and click on the "Index" link for a complete alphabetical index of JavaScript commands and objects.

HotSyte - Predominantly a portal site rather than a resource in its own right, this site has an extremely comprehensive list of links to JavaScript sources of all forms.

Active Server Pages

4 Guys From Rolla - Probably the best ASP resource on the web. Contains many useful tutorials as well as a discussion forum.

Action Jackson - A general web developers resource which contains a very good search engine which I have used a lot for tracking down error messages.

ASP Today - Contains many original articles and ASP tutorials.

LearnASP - The place to go for book reviews. Also has many useful tutorials

PHP and MySQL

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor - Official development site for the HTML-embedded open source web development scripting language. Download the installation files and source code from here and also find documentation and technical support.

MySQL Documentation - Extensive documentation and manual for the open source database software. The documentation is provided by the MySQL company, and also on this site you will find downloads of software updates and other add-ons such as ODBC drivers.

Perl

Perl.com - Run by O'Reilly, the publishing house, this is the source for Perl on the web, include downloads, tutorials and reference.

FreeCode CGI Programming Scripts - If you're too busy or can't be bothered to write your own code, this is a good source of free scripts you can use in your own applications.

Visual Basic and VBScript

searchVB.com - A good resource for all things Visual Basic, including many online tutorials.

VisualBasicScript.Com - A resource for ASP programmers. Contains links to a great many resources for the VBScript scripting language, as well as a few code samples.

VBnet Visual Basic Developers Resource Centre - A good free code library for Visual Basic developers.

Microsoft Developer Network - And don't forget Microsoft's own developer's network. You might not like them, but you can't live without them!
